Quality and entertainment are the most important aspects of a guided walking or bike tour with What’s up Tours. I am not only a professional tour guide but I’m also Dutch. In Amsterdam there are many free guided tours that will take you in a group of more than 30 people through the Red Light District, guided by people who have only lived here for short time. If you really want to understand Dutch culture and history, know where to find the best local spots: come on tour with me!
I promise you will enjoy it!
Walking tour in the historical centre of Amsterdam
The basic walking tour is a 2-hour long tour in the historical centre of Amsterdam: Dam Square, the Red Light District, Chinatown, Nieuwmarkt and the Jewish Quarter.
Hearing stories from the city’s rich history, you’ll get a deep understanding of that special vibe of Amsterdam: the openness and directness of its sailors and prostitutes, the tolerance of religion and drugs, the cultural mix on the streets and on restaurant’s menus as a result of centuries of immigration; the spirit of free trade, the traces of slavery and Holland’s colonial past, the trauma of the Holocaust and the no-nonsense style in Dutch life, art and architecture.
Tours in Jordaan, East, West, Canal Ring, Jewish Quarters and De Pijp
By bike we can visit areas further out and just as interesting: Western Islands, Amsterdam West, Eastern Islands and the Amsterdam Jewish Quarter. Tours are available in Dutch, English and Spanish (Español aqui).
All tours can be adjusted to personal preference.
